In our second lesson we had to learn a different technique in making a robot. The technique we used was extruding.
The first thing I did in cinema 4d was exit
perspective mode and make sure I can see all four screens, then I selected the
cube from the primitive shapes. This will be the robot's body.
I moved the cube up slightly so I would have more room
for the other parts. I changed the properties of the primitive shape so that it each segment is divided into three parts.

I then made the object editable and selected the centre face on top of the cube using the select face tool.
I then selected the extrude tool and entered the extrude to be 75m.
Using the selection tool, I selected the top-middle two faces on both side of the body, I then extruded them to 50m. These will be the robot's arms.
For the legs, I selected the two outside-middle faces from the bottom of the robot. I then extruded these to 150m.
I then select the front face of the head and subdivide it by 1. Then I select the face on the top of the head and also subdivide by 1. Then i select the bottom half of the front of the face and subdivide that by 1. The whilst the bottom half is still selected, I extrude it by 10m.
Next I add the textures. Through the content browser i select the textures radial, metal, a patterned metal , sky and grass.
I select the two downward triangles on the front face of the head for eyes and texture them with the radial. I use the light metal for the mouth and the patterned metal for the body. I then add a floor and a sky and use the remaining textures.
