Sonic Screwdriver (10th)

To create my sonic screwdriver, I mainly used splines. The spline I think is best to use is the bezier spline tool. To create this part of the screwdriver, I got a picture of the actual screwdriver and traced it with the spline. I then used a lathe nurbz to create the shape. To create the ridges at the top, I selected some of the faces and deleted them.

To create the next part I used the bezier spline tool again. To give the spline a shape I used the lathe nurbz. I then positioned the new piece so that it was connected to the original piece.

To create this piece, I used the spline again so that I could have the ridges towards the bottom of the column. I then added used the lathe nurbz to give it shape. To get the slider hole I created a capsule and scaled it so that it creates a reasonably lengthened hole. I then created a cube and made it editable, I then scaled it smaller and flatter and poisoned it at the slider hole to create a slider. I then created a cylinder and scaled it smaller and flatter, I then positioned it at the bottom middle of the slider to act as the gem that is on that part.

To create the connecting piece just above the column part, I used a spline. I then gave it shape with the lather nurbz. I then selected some of the faces at the top and deleted them to create the ridges. I then created a cylinder and made it editable so that I could scale it thinner and longer to be the wire that reaches throughout the screwdriver to give it power. I then used the spline and lathe tool again to create the glass part. To cretae the piece above the glass I used a spline and lathe tool to help create the bevel without using the bevel tool.

On the piece I just created I elected some of the faces and deleted them to create the ridges. As for piece at the top, there are two ways of creating it. I used a spline tool and lathed it then created four oil tanks and scaled them down. I positioned all four into the place I wanted the holes to be. I then used a boole tool to create these holes. The other way to create it could have been with a cylinder. Create the cylinder then add a bevel on both ends. Create a smaller cylinder to crate the hollowness with a boole tool. The create the four oil tanks and use the boole tool to create the holes.

You can create the top part in two different ways. I used a sphere. You can use a full sphere or a hemisphere. I used a full sphere and scaled it down to the right size, then positioned it in place at the top. The other way of doing this would be to used a spline tool and lathe it. You could also make it smoother in this method by adding a hyper nurbz. As for the light I added a lens effect, by changing the glow option to flashlight.
